Daily Inspirations and Adventures

Sisters in the City

leave a comment »

I’m catorigizing this under “Bev’s Travel Adventures” because you and Kitty in the city together unsupervised will certainly be an adventure.

Here is the buger place that we really like – Williamsburger

Here is the bowling place we went to on Sun – Brooklyn Bowl

Two great breakfast places – Cafe Colette and egg (you need to go here right at 9am to get a table, though)

Places for pizza – La Nonna and Patricia’s

There is Pies ‘n’ Thighs, Fette Sau BBQ and Lodge

As far as things to do  . . . you can walk over the Williamsburg Bridge and into Chinatown and have soup dumplings at Joe’s Shanghai.  Or you cab it or take the car over to Prospect Park and the Brooklyn Botanical Garden.  Or you can just walk around and look at all the cute shopes like this one:

Greenpoint’s Newest Marvel
Seven Wonders Vintage Shop Opens

Last night someone in Greenpoint charmed the pants off us.

The culprit: Melissa Blumberg, proprietor of Seven Wonders Vintage. Her just-opened shop is the antithesis of overpriced (nothing more than $100) and overrun (one piece out, one in).

Blumberg hunts at upstate estate sales and in her native Florida for Boca sundresses, cropped tanks, and cheeky sweaters. She also stocks early ’70s garb — minus the poly — preppy tees, and animal prints (horses, fish, birds).

A few designers (Valentino, Coach) make the cut, as well as corduroy blazers, pearl money clips, and silk ties for dudes.

The atmosphere is sunny, with thick-cut pine floors, cacti, industrial pipe racks, and a hilarious retro family portrait in the dressing room. Brogues line the walls; tooled-leather purses, Mexican turquoise and silver, and eclectic jewelry (a Parisian beaded seagull necklace) sit atop an antique wood table.

DailyCandy readers are invited for wine this evening. Don’t be surprised if you drop your skirt.

Seven Wonders Vintage, 606 Manhattan Avenue, at Nassau Avenue (954-609-2403).
