Retreat at Judy’s house

leave a comment »

I am very lucky to have Judy as a friend.  Last week she hosted our Tuesday sewing group for a 2 day mini retreat at her house.  Four of us attended.  Quilters like to sew together, we love getting and giving opinions about what pattern to use, what fabric to use, what the pattern writer REALLY meant, whether our co-sewers need some sugar or caffeine, etc.  Its great to sew with people on the level that Judy gathers on Tuesday.  (I’m trying to diplomatically say that we are all very good technically and artistically.)

I didn’t take pictures of all the projects worked on, but here are a few:

Judy worked on a cute pumpkin wall hanging, she is working on a pieced candy corn strip border.

She and Claudia made the top for a baby quilt:

Cindy worked on a quilt called Virginia bound, somehow I missed taking a picture.  She also worked on some frog blocks. Judy’s husband Mike always makes sure we have fresh coffee.

In addition to the baby quilt, Claudia made this top.

I am shocked at how closely the brown and red fabric looks like the knitted socks!

I’m working away on Blueberry Cobbler,  I’m finished half of the blocks.

 This is a secret project:

I made Zucchini Bread, the recipe was requested, here it is!

4 eggs, beat until frothy

3 cups sugar, beat well

Add :

1 1/4 cup oil

1  1/2 TBSP vanilla  – Beat until thick and lemon colored

3 cups grated zucchini

3 Cups flour

1 1/2 TBSP cinnamon

1 TBSP baking soda

1  tsp salt

1/4 tsp baking powder

Fold in:

1 1/2 cups nuts

Bake in large bundt pan (greased and floured)  at 350 degrees for 1 hour.

You can sure tell this was not a cut and pasted recipe…sorry for the poor formating!
