Paula Deen + Brunch = One Stuffed Dara

leave a comment »

Mike and I went to Paula Deen’s Sunday Jazz Brunch at Gotham Hall yesterday.  I’m still full.  On the menu was the following:

  • Southern Eggs Benedict with  Ham, Carmelized Apples and Poached Eggs with Red Eye Hollandaise atop Biscuits
  • Carved Pork Tenderloin with Buttery Grits and Vinegar Slaw
  • Brussels Sprouts Hash with Hickory Smoked Bacon
  • Green Tomato and Cheddar Casserole
  • Tomato Spoon Bread
  • Murray’s Buttermilk Fried Chicken and Waffles with New York Maple Syrup
  • Crisp Fall Greens Salad with Apples, Pecans and Poppy Seed Dressing
  • Bourbon Pecan-Sandy Tarts
  • Warm Sweet Potato Pudding with Apples and Chestnuts
  • Fresh Fruit

And if that wasn’t enough for you there were a few guest chefs that brough the following:

  • CityGrit: Soft-Boiled Farm Egg Wrapped in HouseMade Pork Breakfast Sausage Battered and Fried to a Crisp
  • Cookshop: Monte Cristo Doughnuts (Ham and Cheese Doughnuts Served with Raspberry Jam)
  • Norma’s: Mini Wa-Za Waffle with Fruit Inside and Fruit Outside with Crackly Brulee Top
  • Mable’s Smokehouse: Slow-Smoked Chopped Creekstone Farm Beef Brisket with Mable’s Secret Sauce and Texas Caviar (black eye peas)
  • Bubby’s Pie Company: Apple, Peacan Burbon & Pumpkin Pie

And . . . of course . . . and unlimited supply of mimosas.

This is a picture of my plate.

(Awful) Picture of Paula talking

Mike and I in a food comma.

The food was amazing  but the  best part about the brunch was that the New York City Wine & Food Festival, as a whole, raised over $1 million for the food banks in NYC.  So yes, we stuffed our faces, but it was all for a good cause. 🙂

I’m not eating for atleast a day.
