Does My Very Talented Mom-Mom Knit Rugs Too?

leave a comment »

Marcee posted this picture on Pintrest last night.

How incredibly soft does that rug look?  I followed the picture and landed on Purl’s blog!  They had more pictures of the rug  . . . and had this to say about it, “Our Big Stitch Knit Rug is sumptuous like a heavenly soft cloud and beautiful like a white-pebbled Sardinian beach. Sinking your feet into its cozy stitches is such a wonderful feeling you’ll want it first thing in the morning and last thing at night!”

Yes – I would like to sink my feet into the cozy stitches, pretty please!

They also kindly posted instructions (which I read . . . looks like Greek to me).  I’ll buy the yarn (Big Stitch Alpaca) and provide moral support!  🙂

As for the hair – PLEASE don’t do any of the styles you posted.  My goodness, Mother (especially the last one – jeez, where did you get that picture from?!).

How about this (you would have to die your hair VERY blonde and get a Brazilian Blowout, though 🙂 )? Stunning.

Or this (with blonde hair of course).

If you’re thinking of going REALLY short this is a nice option.  I believe you had your hair like this a long time ago, right?

A few more.

Time for a haircut

I am not going to make it any longer with this mop of hair, especially having gone very quickly through the dreadlocks stage.  Would you like to vote on a favorite?  Most of the styles I looked at are very straight, but I live in Florida, the rainy season is coming, and I have curly hair.  My current favorite is Donny Wahlberg’s wife on Bluebloods.

I think Jenna Elfman’s hair might be  a bit too short and too straight:

Picture this in blond:

I’m open for other suggestions.

I can’t look past Harper…that’s way too much snow!  Kim’s pictures of Hawaii are beautiful.  Talk about extremes…

Alaska Snow

Look past Harper (I know, its hard, but you can do it).  Do you see how high the snow is in the window!?  That has to be at least 5 feet of snow!!! Ugh, Mike and I have been kicking ourselves every day this winter for choosing not to go up to ski/snowboard and spend time with the fam . . . hopefully we can go next year and hopefully it snows just as much.

I think if I liked brussels sprouts, this would look delicious . . . and simple and quick.

Spaghetti with Bacon, Brussels Sprouts and Artichokes yield: 2 entrees, 4 sides

Ingredients: 1/2 lb. spaghetti 4 slices thick sliced pepper bacon 1/2 onion, diced 2 cloves garlic, finely minced 1/2 lb. brussels sprouts 6 1/2 oz. jar marinated artichoke hearts 1/2 cup grated parmigiano reggiano cheese salt, to taste

Directions: Bring large pot of water to boil. Salt water and add in pasta. Cook to al dente, drain and set aside.

In the meantime, in a deep skillet, cook bacon slices to your liking. Drain on paper towels. Pour off excess bacon grease leaving 2 tablespoons. {If your bacon didn’t give off enough grease, make up the difference in olive oil.} Saute onions, garlic, brussels sprouts and salt until tender, about 5 minutes. Chop bacon slices into smaller pieces. Stir in artichoke hearts, bacon, hot pasta and cheese. Toss together, taste and adjust seasonings. If you find the dish is on the dry side, stir in some reserved pasta water or heavy cream.

Back to real life tomorrow . . . I haven’t sewn with my Tuesday buddies in TWO WEEKS!!!!  I think the dogs will suffer from Mommy withdrawal!

Yes, I’m returning to the land of the living

Sorry to our readers for my lack of blogging, but I contracted bronchitis.  I was very lucky to have very special nurses-Bogie and Eagle did not leave my side.  2-Putt and LC tried to pretend that I wasn’t sick.

I learned a few things while spending a week in bed.

-One does not have to watch any of the shows that stars the Kardashians to know everything about the Kardashians.

-When your hair is long, it doesn’t take very long to get dreadlocks.  It takes forever to brush the tangles out of your hair.

-Shannon looks like she must be one of the very best mothers in the world.  I think I want to be Harper, that child looks totally entertained and loved.  The picture of Harper and Miller sledding is my new screen saver.) OH MY GOODNESS, THAT”S WAY TOOOOO MUCH SNOW!!!!

-Nothing tastes good when you take an antibiotic called avelox.

-Project Runway allstars has renewed my love for the show.  (Although Kenley will probably win, I will be mad all over again the Mondo didn’t win.)  I LOVE Joanna Coles, the Tim of the show. Austin Scarlett cracks me up!  (Issac Mizrahi, one of the judges, calls him Austin Starlet.)

Well that’s enough educational information for today.  Neil loves the shower curtain.  (Please tick off another mention of Tangerine tango to the counter.)

PS.  Caitlin can have her baby, her quilt is finished!
