It’s nice to have friends who share

Judy and her husband Mike are hard core gardeners.  Over the weekend they raked and bagged 38 trash bags of oak leaves, planted one million caladiums, and divided their crinium lilies.  (I’m so impressed that they were both able to move today.)

Here are some assorted caladiums.  By the way, Aunt Kitty loves caladiums.

Crinium lilies are bulbs.  The bulbs Judy and Mike gave me were the size of cantaloupes!  It is hard to see in this picture, but they grow about 3 feet tall.

Mike told me that there would be no extra charge  for any snakes included in the bags of bulbs .   I wonder if he will charge for the what did  appear when I opened one of the bags:

A very nice surprise!

4 Days . . .

leave a comment »

I leave for vacation in 4 DAYS!!!!!!  Wow.  So much to do and so little time.  I have finished my packing, thanks to an all day shopping trip with Katya yesterday.  These items (well, not the exact items but similar ones) will be in my suitcase for the Florence portion of our trip.  It’s supposed to be in the 60s and sunny!!

In Florence we’ll be staying at The Continentale Hotel.  Its a Ferragamo Hotel and looks really amazing.  We found it on Tablet, which has the best botique hotels in the World.

Edeta Sitar

is my very favorite designer of quilts.  I have an applique quilt top finished that I love, designed by Edeta.

I don’t have a picture of my top sewn together.  How did that happen?

This is the same pattern, completely made of silk.  GORGEOUS.

She has some new patterns.  I like all of them, but I really like this one:

I’m not a big fan of Lone Star quilts, but I LOVE the color in this Lone Star.

Well, instead of blogging I should be quilting my for my customers so I can quilt my Edeta.

I’m happy to report that another beautiful quilt I quilted won a prize!

This is the message Miss Emily sent me:

Hi Bev,
Our quilt won second place in the West Pasco Quilt show this weekend.  I am so happy — you did such a beautiful job quilting it — I’m sure that’s why it won.  I think (don’t hold me to it) that you will also get a ribbon because it was listed under the “duet” group.  I’ll let you know later when I find out for sure.
Love, Emily
(I’m kicking myself that I didn’t place an ad in the West Pasco Quilt show program.  Noe, if I could only quilt a little bit faster…)

Paige’s Quilt

Caitlin received the baby quilt, so I can share pictures.

I HAD to include a Boston Terror:

I hope Paige loves wrapping up and rolling around on it!

Congrats again, Caitlin and Jeff.

I am so annoyed – I give up on pictures until I get a new camera.  The garden is beginning to bloom, and I can’t take closeups. The white Amaryllis always blooms first.

The pictures of my roses didn’t turn out.

I have short hair now…

LC said that she is cute enough that it doesn’t matter if the camera doesn’t work properly:

Two congratulations go out today…first to Caitlin and Jeff on the birth of Paige.

Second to Dora.  Her Dear Jane quilt won Grand Champion at the Strawberry Festival!
