The Man Repeller’s Leandra Medine Talks Weddings, Cake

HER MAN, NONREPELLED: On Thursday night, in a purple velvet gilded room inspired by “Midnight in Paris,” the Man Repeller’s Leandra Medine walked down the aisle in a Marchesa dress she bought off the rack with her fiancé, whose identity she never reveals to her followers and who works in finance. Her decision to go with Marchesa came as a surprise, since it wasn’t long ago that she told one publication she would work with Prabal Gurung on a custom creation. The fashion blogger didn’t go into much detail on what happened with the designer, only noting, “Prabal and I were going to try and work together but it just didn’t work out.”

The Man Repeller faithful have been on wedding-dress watch, expecting Medine to select something “crazy” for her wedding considering the eclectic mix of clothing she wears on the blog. The real shock might come from her decision to go with such a traditional gown. She described the dress as a longer version of the one Miranda Kerr wore to the Met Ball last year. It has one-shoulder and it’s all tulle.

“It’s tight on top and then it explodes at the bottom,” she added.

A few wedding day extras: Rebecca Minkoff designed a white satin motorcycle jacket and Lyndsey Butler created a white leather vest. This might be the only information Medine provides about her wedding day look. She hasn’t decided whether it will appear on the blog.

She expected 300 people to attend the ceremony, at the St. Regis Hotel in Midtown Manhattan. Her bridesmaids were told they could wear whatever they wanted, in colors such as mint, light pink and light yellow. “It’s like a little Easter egg party,” she quipped, adding she had asked her florist to make each woman a flower crown.

Medine began planning her wedding six months ago. She hasn’t had much time to prepare but that’s fine by her. “I’m not a bride-y person. This is just a wedding. I’m more excited to be married,” she said. Medine’s interest in wedding details can sort of be encapsulated by her response to a question about her wedding cake. “Cake? I’m not even sure there is a cake. Do you know how many Celine bags I could buy for that cake?”
