Flowers on Friday: Health, Beauty and Genius

leave a comment »

Health . . . First off, I had Vicki and Bean over for dinner last night.  Vicki is on a strict 21 day raw diet (no processed anything, no cooked anything and, of course, no animal products) so I made a raw basil pesto (using basil from my little garden :)).

The “pasta” was zucchini from Llama Mama Good Farm.  Vicki just got a new spiralizer that makes veggies, miraculously, into angel hair pasta (no picture of that because it wasn’t pretty, but it sure was tasty!).

Next to Beauty . . .

Ummmm, how STUNNING is that bouquet?!  It belongs to Jamie Beck (who I found out about through my favorite blog).  You want to see it again but from a different angle? 🙂 (More on that dress of hers next week).

And if you thought those were amazing look at the reception centerpieces (held at the Carlyle Hotel, which will forever remind me of the book An Object fo Beauty – if you haven’t read it yet you should).

Speaking of Jamie . . . here are a few pictures she took of fashion week . . . what incredible talent.

Speaking of fashion week, did you see the Man Repeller on CNN.com yesterday?  Good for her!!!

Lastly . . . Genius. Daily Candy featured The Little Glass Slipper flower shop the other day.  Its a little flower shop in Greenpoint (next to Williamsburg) that specializes in creating bouquets using healing herbs (in addition to beautiful flowers, of course).   For September, they are focusing on end-of-summer and early fall herbs like rosemary (improves circulation), lavender (good for seasonal depression), echinacea (immune boost), and mint (soothing). Some bouquets help with skin and digestive system woes.

And if all that didn’t make you smile enough . . . this video will make you cry it’s so funny (thank you, Mike, for passing along to me).  Happy Friday!!
