Jacob’s Ladder for Jacob

This quilt is going to be a  fundraiser for Jacob Meachum:

14 year old Jacob Meachum had his whole life ahead of him. On June 3, 2012, Jacob was a passenger on an ATV when it was hit by an SUV and he was thrown from the ATV. The driver of the SUV was drinking and driving, speeding 21 MPH over the limit, had no insurance and driving on a suspended license. The driver is currently in jail serving time for another DUI from March. He has yet to be charged for Jacob’s accident.  Jacob sustained a traumatic brain injury and was in a comatose state.  He has a severe neck fracture that has finally healed after 5 months. Jacob has regained consciousness but his future is still unclear at this time.

The quilt top was made by Diane B, the pattern is called Jacob’s Ladder.

The fabric is mostly batiks, which are my current favorite.  I like the combination of the fabrics on the borders.

I couldn’t resist quilting hearts to symbolize the big heart that Diane and others have to help this family in need.  The hearts are visible on the back of the quilt, very subtle on the front.

This is a link to a website for Jacob.
