A Blonde Moment and a Vegetable

with one comment

The Dear Jane that has lived on my quilting machine for two months went home today!!!! We have a neighbor who occasionally sells fresh corn.  When the corn is available, he puts a table on the edge of his driveway,  one pays by honor system. On my way home from delivering Jane, he had a table out, with what looked like corn so I stopped to buy some.  I was disappointed to find out that what I hoped was corn was actually mustard greens.  However, he was also selling white beets.  I have been enjoying beet and goat cheese salads, so I thought I’d try the white beets.  I looked at the sign that listed the prices, the mustard greens were $2.00, as were the turnips.

White beets

I returned home and told Neil about the delicacy we would be enjoying for dinner. While telling him out the vegetable, I realized that my white beets were actually TURNIPS….YECH!!!!!!!  So yes, my hair  is chemically enhanced, but I was born a blond.  Neil will be cooking the turnips outside so they don’t stink up the house.

  1. Love this!! I saw the picture and thought, “wow never seen white beets before! I should grow these”. Turns out I am a natural blonde… and have never dyed it. Maybe I should start thinking about it.
