Pat’s Lone Starburst

with one comment

Pat G. did it again!  She begins with a pattern, and has the vision to use an unexpected fabric to create a masterpiece. In this instance, the pattern was Lone Starburst by Kimberly Einmo.  (You may remember that Kim gave our guild a workshop on making this quilt.)

Kim’s quilt was previously featured in the blog, but her is a picture refresher:

Doesn’t color and value make a difference? I loved the quilting on Kimberly’s quilt (of course, it’s hearts!) but Pat made this for her son.   Quilting designs for a man are a little difficult to envision, but I think these designs worked.

This was such a delight to quilt.  Pat’s work was precise, so the quilt was straight and square (a longarm quilter’s dream) and the quilting designs I planned just worked.

Happy Birthday to Pat’s son!

P.S. Dara has been a bit too busy, and maybe too upset to talk about Chet’s accident.  Briefly, he broke his jaw in a scuffle with a dog.  He has had surgery to repair the break, and is on the road to recovery.  According to his surgeon, he is a tough old cookie.

  1. Pat’s quilt is simply STUNNING! I just love the colors and the dark background. The quilting is simply perfect for this design and compliments the fabrics beautifully! Pat’s son is a lucky fellow to be getting such a handsome gift. I’m just tickled down to my toes to see this gorgeous quilt!
    Thanks for sharing.
