Gillian Flynn – How does she do it?
I taking a short break from reading Dark Places written by Gillian Flynn, the author of Gone Girl. The main character is not likable and there is a truly gory murder (I’m not giving anything away…it happens in the first few pages) of a pitiful family. Just like Gone Girl, I hate to put the book down. She is the most addictive author ever. She sucks you in, and doesn’t let go. A highly recommended book, although I haven’t finished it yet.
I would also recommend I read, and enjoyed a book that wasn’t a mystery! The main character was a young woman who “aged out” of foster care. My heart broke for her. Another thumbs up from Bev.
A third recommendation is Dead Cat Bounce by Sarah Graves. Back to mysteries for me. This is a series about a woman who left a job in finance in NYC and bought a rundown house in Maine. She becomes quite the handyperson. Yes, it is a mystery, so there is a murder to solve. Mom should put this series on her list of books to read. (I hope you know what the title means…it is a financial term.)
I’ve got to go…Dark Places is calling. (Then I have Flynn’s first book Sharp Objects to read. ) Does the Up bracelet yell at you when you are up all night reading an addictive book?
