Stripping with Kathy C.
Get your mind out of the gutter…A strip is a cut of fabric 2 1/2 inches wide by the width of the fabric, usually 45 inches. Fabric companies now sell collections of fabric in strip sets. Each fabric company calls these set by a different name. Moda is one of my favorite brands, their set is called jelly rolls.(cute name, isn’t it?)
My favorite style of fabric,Batiks, are sold in collections called Balli Pops. What do you call a collection of FIVE balli pops? A great birthday gift!Kathy loves balli pops. Without further ado, Kathy’s strip quilt:I really like the pop of red she used in the thin border. I’m anxious to see what she uses to bind the quilt.
I used a variegated blue thread to quilt swirls and wiggly lines.
Last night the Brandon Piecemaker’s Guild had a guest speaker who educated us on Modern Traditionalism in quilts. This quilt would qualify because it is asymmetrical, one of the quality’s of M.T.( Kathy will roll her eyes when she reads this. She will not want to be known as a modern quilter since it is a very new style of quilting.)I think this is a very pretty bed quilt.
Congratulations on your green thumb! That orchid is spectacular!
