Finally Feeling Like Fall . . .

Its been a while since I’ve posted about our weekend.  This weekend I sat down for maybe 10 minutes total, and that was to play ball with Julian.  He just learned how to throw a ball on Friday night and has wanted to do nothing else since then.  He’s such a little boy.

Saturday was New York Cares day in the city.  It’s when volunteers spend the day helping public schools get cleaned up and ready for the new school year.  This year I volunteered with Vicki and her co-workers at The Sak.

Our project was at a k-5 school in Ditmas Park, Brooklyn.  We cleaned out their basement, which was full of old books and old furniture . . . then went on to paint their cafeteria and finished with a few wall murals in the kindergarten hallway of the school.

Saturday night we got our first real babysitter, Nina.  She and Julian hit it off right away and he was a perfect little angel for her.  The reason for the babysitter was a surprise 30th birthday party on the Lower East Side for Stacey!  Mike and I rode our bikes to the party, like typical Brooklynites.  It was a beautiful night, and why not burn a few calories on your way to a party!?  That cake was a fluffernutter cake and was as good as it sounds.

Sunday morning we got a surprise visit from Katya and Oz.  Gosh I really need to get my roots done.

And then headed off to Queens County Farm for some good Autumn fun. 🙂

I was officially “that mom” singing Old MacDonald Had A Farm  (sorry, that will be in your head all day now!) . . . while we were visiting with the chickens and cows.
