Serendipity. It warms my heart to think about your fortune to have made and kept friendship with some very dear people.
Vicki has been on my mind, first because you had dinner with her last week.
Second, Morgan wore this sweater Friday:
She wanted to know if Vicki’s llamas ever spit at me. Did they ever spit at you?
Third, one of the ladies that Mom mom and I knit with made these slippers. Do you remember(how could you forget) Vicki wearing the knitted slippers that my Grandmother made???? I think, in another color, I would wear these on the days that the temperature drops below 70 degrees.
Your son was absolutely a riot tonight. I love seeing you laugh so hard!
I’ve heard that doing things you enjoy on New Year’s day set the tone for the year. So instead of making resolutions today, I took time to do things I love.
I sang Happy Birthday to Neil with my favorite skypers – Dara, Mike, and Julian!
While on skype, Neil and I were able to wish Dara and Mike a Happy Anniversary!
I planned a new garden that will feature the fountain that Neil gave me for Christmas.
I bought some flowers that will be planted in the fountain garden. (We also bought mulch and edging.)
I did a little sewing. I’m finishing a Christmas table runner. Talk about early…Christmas isn’t for 11 months!
Wow, this is going to be a great year!
I am thrilled to show you the family of sandhill cranes that wander around the neighborhood. I think I’m fascinated by them because they are 6 feet tall. Thats a lot of bird!
Kitty would like these birds…cause they have red heads. Sandhill cranes mate for life. There have been some interesting birds visiting the lake in front of our house. Who knew pelicans came in white?
These are the pelicans flying away. Those completely white birds have black feathers that appear when they fly.
You didn’t think I could blog about nature without finding a way to include flowers, did you? These beauties are blooming at my front door.Gorgeous, aren’t they?
I hope you put some pictures of Christmas week on our blog. If you don’t I’ll have to resort to posting some of mine. I don’t have the practice you have of taking pictures of Julian…man in constant motion!
Today I finally returned to Sewing at Judy’s. Cindy is working on a baby quilt for her third grandchild.
Pat made this adorable bow tie quilt using fabric from her grandmother. What a wonderful remembrance.
She quilted it herself. She layered only the center third with batting, quilted that section. She added batting under another third and quilted that portion. Then she finished the last third. (Dara, i know your eyes are glazing over, sorry.)
Such a beauty, Pat!
I haven’t posted any flowers lately. Since you like white orchids I thought you would appreciate these.
We all enjoy our animals, sometimes the senior ones changes in behavior just crack me up. Sylvester, Judy’s is working up his courage to learn to swim at 16 years old.
I guess we are all in for a cold spell…bundle up.
Vicki has been part of our family from the time you met her at Suffolk University. How could I not fall in love with the free-spirited, animal loving, food addicted person who has been a faithful friend to you. Of course, I was happy to make a quilt to celebrate her wedding.
Lots of love went into the lots of squares that were cut and sewn for this special gift.If I had another child,a sibling for you, I would want her to be Vicki.
Dave BURST into our lives at your wedding. It was such a treat to see his fancy dance steps! They already looked like they belonged together. I was so happy to be at their wedding. Vicki was a beautiful bride, Dave a handsome groom! Some things last a long time. Congratulations Vicki and Dave!
It took a little while, but I think my parents are starting to enjoy living in Florida. Every time they tell me it is a bit warm I remind them that there were TWENTY snow incidents last winter in Lancaster. Here is a typical day.
Pop pop made his delicious homemade bread FINALLY! You know what comes next….The most delicious French toast as only Pop pop can make! An excellent way to start the day. Mom mom and I then went to the pool. It wasn’t too crowded when we arrived. Won’t Julian enjoy the swings when he visits?
Dad likes to sit on the porch, with his dog. (You know the one who never used to be more than 3 feet away from me. He now lives with Mom and Dad.)Mom finished today happily quilting away. She is quilting a top that was made by Noreen.
I hope they are enjoying life here enough to stay. I’m really enjoying their company.
I was born at the wrong time. If I had learned to dance using (playing?) the Just Dance video game. I’m sure I would be a FABULOUS dancer. I would also be a better dresser…if you appreciate Lady Gaga’s attire. I bet I would be able to bowl a 299. (There must be a bowling Wii game.) Even if I played a football game, I doubt I would understand some of the dumb rules of the game!
My Tuesday sewing group had a delightful time participating in “Buy Local Saturday.” We visited my favorite quilt shop, Inspire.I LOVE all the new fabric that is being created. Did you do anything exciting on Cyber Monday?
To have some actual content to this blog entry, I’m giving a HUGE thumbs down to the book, The Ocean at the End of the Lane. I just didn’t understand it.
How did it get to be December?
