It’s your fault. Last night I was so nosy that I HAD to watch The Bachelorette to see if we predicted correctly that the cute guy was going to dump whats her name. Talk about drawing out (my) misery having to watch him whining and whining and whining. Just tell her you don’t want a rose and get it over with!!!
Luckily, there was an exciting baseball game on TV – the Rays versus the Red Socks. I was real man with a remote control, I drove myself crazy flipping back and forth between the Bachelorette and Baseball. But wait… a rain delay in a game that featured my favorite pitcher. Oh no, back to Whiney. I thank your husband for my being interested in baseball. (Neil also thanks Mike for that.)
And yes, you were the person who told me about Project Runway. I still LOVE the show. Some things are different this year. As you know, Go Bank has given each designer a debit card with $4,000 to purchase fabric at Mood, so they have a budget for the whole season. Tim is sitting in with the judges, and he can save one contestant from elimination. The judges will be able to look at the fashions up close after the Runway.
It is too soon for me to pick my favorite designer. There are a few kooky characters still on the show for the comic relief they provide. One is a dumpster diver who wouldn’t let his model have and makeup or hair products because he is into sustainable fashion, Oh, and his model was also barefoot, but he wore gold sparkled high heels???? I expect him to leave this week. Then there is the hot-tempered Russian who was yelling and screaming at everyone, but who comforted one of the designers who lost it before her design went down the Runway. Oh, and his model was the one who had to have a “black spot” cover part of her shorts so that the show wasn’t censored.
Kate was the winner of this challenge, which was to create a design to showcase diamond jewelry.
What an amazing year you had! The picture of you and Mike is beautiful, I’m glad you had such a wonderful vacation.
Yes, I’m still watching PR. I wonder if I am the only one. I love Joanna Coles, from Marie Clare magazine. She is the Tim Gunn on the All Star episodes. The show is down to 4 designers. This week the challenge was to make an outfit for a woman who is a veteran of the armed forces. I like the challenges that are for real people. Joshua won, as he should have. Uli is probably going to win. Her veteran asked for and received and “Uli” dress:Neither woman looked happy in the pictures above, but both were beaming on the runway. I will skip the other two pictures, the dresses weren’t very flattering.
I am 8 episodes into the first season of Downton Abbey. How did I miss out on this for so long? I am now timing my quilting by the number of episodes of the show it takes to finish a quilt. What a great show. I LOVE the costumes, and have fallen in love with almost every character.
I jumped on the bandwagon and started watching Downton Abbey. It’s SO good . . . you fall in love with all of the characters instantly.
Check it out . . .
Mike and I watched this show called Person to Person last night. (I originally wanted to watch it to see George Clooney’s house, which is aaaamazing.) Warren Buffett was one of the people they interviewed (Jon Bon Jovi was the third person). The interview took place in Warren’s office, which he’s been working in for over 50 years. He seems to be a very sweet, genuine guy . . . I came away very impressed. If every investor would just listen to the answer he gave when asked what he thinks investors do wrong, my work life would be SO MUCH EASIER!
“Well, they think that what is important is next quarter’s earnings. And they think they have to trade around, and they have to read news events and change their opinion …And if people would…adopt the philosophy that they’re buying something to hold for the rest of their life. …they can’t go wrong doing that.”
Its incredible how much he just loves investing/his job . . . but not for the money. He has lived in the same house for 53 years, is thrilled that his office landlord has kept the rent down, says things like, “I have every possession I want. I have a lot of friends who have a lot more possessions. But in some cases, I feel the possession possess them, rather than the other way around”, is giving 99% of his wealth to charity and he thinks rich people should pay higher taxes. Just imagine what the world would be like if we all had the same philosophy as Warren. Good stuff.
A little excerpt from the interview is below, you can watch the entire interview here.
Ariels class at Kula with Katya + omelette for dinner + snuggle time with chetter + THE SEASON PREMIERE OF MODERN FAMILY!!!!! = The perfect night (well, semiperfect since Mike will be in ATL).
