A few years ago, you wrote a daily entry for a month about things you which you were thankful. That might be a good way for me to resurrect our blog.  In addition, I read an article that reported that writing about things that made you happy increased your happiness. (Who would have guessed?)

So today I’m thankful that my daughter started a blog that allowed me to write happy things.

My quilting group that meets Tuesdays at Judy’s house is doing a ufo challenge this year.We are choosing 6 items we want to complete this year.  Every two months we reveal a complete ufo. To make it exciting, we are each putting 12 dollars into a pot.  Each time we comlete a project we receive one dollar back. At the end of the year we will draw for the remaining money in the pot.

Here are my projects:

I am happy to be so encouraged to complete some well “aged projects” that I still really like.

My new favorite appetizer

leave a comment »

I’m trying to get back in the blog habit.  So many things happened this past year that aren’t documented because I didn’t blog.  I’m hoping I will be a diligent blogger in 2016. I’m starting with my favorite new appetizer recipe.  Enjoy.
Cranberry Salsa Dip with Cream Cheese Recipe:
Recipe Type: AppetizerCranberriesDips and SpreadsChile Peppers
Yields: 1 1/2 cups
Prep time: 20 min

1 (12-ounce bag) or 3 cups fresh cranberries, rinsed and drained
1/4 cup minced green onions
2 small (approximately 2 tablespoons) jalapeno chile peppers, cored, seeded, and minced
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1/4 cup fresh cilantro leaves, minced
2 tablespoons finely-grated fresh ginger
2 tablespoons fresh-squeezed lemon juice
2 (8-ounce) packages cream cheese
Cranberries and/or cilantro sprigs for garnish

Rinse, drain, and pick over cranberries, (discarding all that are soft or bruised).
Place the cranberries in a food processor; pulse until finely chopped but not mushy.
Place chopped cranberries in a bowl; mix together with onions, jalapeno peppers, sugar, cilantro leaves, ginger, and lemon juice.
Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate at least 4 hours so flavors develop (salsa will be too sharp and tart to begin with).
On a serving plate, place cream cheese; cover with the dip. Garnish, if desired, and served with crackers.
Makes 1 1/2 cups.

Why do dogs go CRAZY after a bath?

My little Sewfee is growing up

Puppies, however are a great deal of work. Mom Mom is enjoying her.

Pop pop calls her “The Pest” because she runs into their house and steals Mom Mom’s yarn and runs under the coffee table where no one can reach her.

Meanwhile Bogey is quietly hiding in a box that has my Dear Jane patterns

So yes, Sewfee had a bath today, and ran like a berserk creature around the house and yard as FAST as her little legs would go!

Your yard looks great, I’m proud of your green thumb! Yes, my grandson has become an adorable little boy!

Testing the Ikea relationship theory

leave a comment »

It is serendipitous that today Neil and I are going to Ikea to purchase cabinets for the mountains of fabric and sewing supplies in the house. Today is our wedding anniversary. Congratulations to you, too.  How many years has it been since you met my dear son-in-law?

I am pleased to tell you that I returned to sewing this week.  I thought it would take a while to feel comfortable  with my quilting machine, but it felt WONDERFUL! My Dear Jane group met this week,  I have the middle of the quilt sewn together,on to the borders. It had been a long time since Kathy, Ruth, and I had sewn and talked.

I hope your weather is as nice as ours. After Neil and I fight at Ikea we are going to celebrate our anniversary at a restaurant dining outdoors!
