Dream Dress

leave a comment »

I was (so very) lucky to get¬†the¬†wedding dress of my dreams¬†made by you (my¬†super talented mother) and will forever, fondly,¬†look back at the process and (of course)¬†wearing¬†the dress.¬† There are many (very good) reasons¬†why women get pre-designed dresses for their big day.¬† Some¬†just don’t really know what they want . . . or what will look good on them . . . or¬†they don’t even know where to start to find a designer or dress maker . . . or they think that it will be just too expensive. In my opinion,¬†if you have the time, vision,¬†patience¬†and trust in a designer I think its well worth it to have your “dream dress” made into a reality.

Last week I posted this picture of Jamie Beck’s wedding dress . . .

So pretty.¬† She had it made by Katie Ermilio¬†(granddaughter of Grace Kelly’s personal clothier).

You can read more about the process they went through to make the dress here.¬† Below are some pictures that she took along the way . . . the process looks pretty familiar. ūüôā

It took 36 hours for Katie to make this veil (aren’t you happy I didn’t ask to have lace added to the end of mine?!)

Her husband had his tux made by Katie’s father (a third generation suit maker who designed Augusta’s iconic “Green Jacket”).

They look pretty darn good if you ask me!

Summer Friday Wedding

leave a comment »

Caitlin is going to a wedding in a few weeks . . .¬†on a Friday . . .¬†on a farm.¬† I wanted to help her accessorize her beautiful new green dress (below).¬† I’ve been dying to get that JCrew¬†necklace.¬† Everytime¬†I see someone on the street walk by with it on I want to rip it off their necks and run (not really, but kind of).¬† Flowerbomb¬†is my new perfume¬†that I love.¬† It’s perfect for¬†a summer night (although, Skin so Soft may be a better option for this wedding. ūüôā ).¬† Fiesta from Essie is what I currently have on my toes . . . love how bright and summery¬†it looks.
Summer Friday Wedding
I still really love maxi dresses and think¬†wearing one¬†would also be a nice option for a summer, friday night wedding.¬† I¬†recently bought this one¬†and will probably wear it tomorrow night when I go to SmorgasBoat¬†with Mike, Dave and Vicki. The maxi below¬†is from Calypso St. Barth.¬† I think that Caitlin has this Tori Burch clutch (or maybe its black – can’t remember ūüôā )
Summer wedding = 2

And the Winner is . . .

Well, you’ll have to tune in to the blog in Nov/Dec of 2012 to see the final dress but this is the front-runner (the designer’s website is kind of bizarre so I can’t show a good picture of it).¬† It is insanely perfect for Katya and a beach wedding.

This is the front.  Very classic.

And you can kind of see the back in this picture (behind the girl with a cage on her head!).¬† It’s all open with a little lace around the one side and the bottom.¬† Its so pretty in person.¬† There were three other girls there and we all started to tear up!

Kleinfelds is craziness, though.¬† What a factory that place is. There was a girl there that had a $32,000 dress on and was seriously thinking about “saying yes”.¬† I could think of a million and two other things to spend $32,000 on.

Katya’s Wedding Dress!

leave a comment »

Today (or tomorrow, whenever you are reading this) I’m going to Kleinfeld’s¬†with Katya to look at dresses!¬† We don’t have very similar styles . . . she goes for the more fitted (as she should!) attire while I’m more flowy so it took a while to find dresses that I like that I think she would like but I found a few!

First of all, this is one she already has picked out to try on – the back (and front) is stunning!

Here are some I like for her.

Have to start with Vera.

And Monique

I don’t know the designer of this one but I LOVE it.

Weddings in Mexico

leave a comment »

Katya and Unity just got back from checking out wedding spots in Tulum for their big day, which will be next year around this time.  Here is a picture of them on the beach on Thanksgiving.

I CANNOT WAIT for this wedding and to see these two love birds tie the knot.¬† Tomorrow I’m going to Klienfelds (eek!) with Katya to look at wedding dresses.¬† To get inspired I looked around the good old wedding blogs for pictures from other destination weddings that took place in Mexico . . . this is what I found.¬† Kind of makes me want to get married all over again . . . but only if I could do¬†it if for free! ūüôā

Dresses will be posted tomorrow!!!

Jon & Wray’s VT Wedding

leave a comment »

In my¬†opinion, what makes a wedding great¬†is if the bride a groom really stride to make it as personal as possible.¬† Jon and Wray did that incredibly well.¬† Our welcome packet at the hotel included a booklet which¬†had the typical (and much-needed)¬†“area attractions” and “schedule of events” . . . but it also included a homemade crossword puzzle that Jon and Wray put together.¬† The questions included where they first met, where they got engaged, what was their favorite vegetable, etc.¬†Mike and I did pretty well answering most, but it definitely made me want to spend more time with them to “fill in the blanks”.¬† Their ceremony was also incredibly heartfelt and warm.¬† Instead of writing their own vows they had the pastor read letters that they wrote to each other.¬† I don’t think there was a dry eye in the church.¬† The reception that followed didn’t let me down.¬† They had beautiful pictures of their families that stretched across a huge table, a really fun photobooth with a collection of props from their childhood . . . and the speeches . . . don’t even get me started.¬†

So yes . . . I did go there after a sleepless week and was mentally exhausted from earnings season maddness . . . but I left feeling energized and really thankful that I got to be a part of such a special weekend for these two.

The view from our room at the Claybrook at Sugarbush Mountain.  The rehersal dinner and welcome party on Fri night were in the blue barn to the right.

We had breakfast both mornings at the Big Picture Theater and Cafe.  Why you ask?  Because they make their own maple glazed doughnuts that are like crack.

The cows were very interesting in VT . . . it was like they have sheep fur.¬† Furry cows – loved them. ūüôā

The new Mr & Mrs.¬† They had us throw lavender (you know, because it’s a flower and we are in VT . . . one of the greenest states in the country!)

Such a cute little church.

The reception was at the Roundbarn in Warren, VT.  The food was all organic and local and was incredible (right down to the carrot cake wedding cake with maple cream cheese icing).

Cocktail hour downstairs.

Reception upstairs.

Everyone pretty much danced the entire night (how else were we going to work off that incredible maple cream cheese icing?).  Great band.

In case you didn’t have enough maple this weekend – they gave some as the favor to bring home.

The snow gently fell during the reception.¬† When we were leaving there was a dusting on the ground. I wore the shawl (and the only dress that wasn’t black!)¬†mom-mom made me for our wedding.¬† Actually, the mother-of-the-bride would like the pattern.¬† Do we still have that?

Waking up the next morning there was more than a dusting!

Chet said that his Aunt Cathy really tired him out this weekend!

He’s such a little pumpkin. ūüôā
